Stephanie A. Urchick, a distinguished member of the Rotary Club of McMurray, Pennsylvania, USA, currently serves as the President of Rotary International for the term 2024-25. She is the second woman in history to hold this prestigious position.
In a world facing incredible challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change-driven disasters, and regional conflicts, Urchick believes that Rotary’s leaders offer a clear vision and actionable plans to overcome these obstacles.
“Rotary’s proactive measures to address critical challenges often strengthen our organization, making us more resilient for future events,” says Urchick. “This type of essential leadership fosters new levels of cooperation, even among rivals, as Rotarians unite as people of action to serve and solve crises.”
Urchick emphasizes the importance of regionalization within Rotary. “With Rotary operating in over 200 countries and regions, recognizing and adapting to regional differences is vital,” she explains. “This understanding enhances our efficiency and effectiveness, improving how Rotarians work together to provide service, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace.”
Urchick is the partner and chief operating officer of Doctors at Work LLC, a consulting and training company. She holds a doctorate in leadership studies from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is active on numerous community boards and committees. Her contributions have been recognized by organizations such as Zonta International and the Sons of the American Revolution.
Since joining Rotary in 1991, Urchick has demonstrated unwavering commitment through various impactful projects. She has traveled to Vietnam to help build a primary school and to the Dominican Republic to install water filters. Her dedication extends to mentoring new Rotarians in Ukraine, coordinating a Rotary Foundation grant project in Poland, and studying several Slavic languages to enhance her communication and leadership skills.
