Dr. Rajendra Agarwal is known by a very special name ‘Service Governor’ and embodies the very concept of Rotary’s existence worldwide ‘Service above self’. He has now for many years devoted himself to serving under privileged, needy and poor individuals in our society & community who need help in every possible way to better their lives. He’s passion for service and his dedication to this greater cause of humanity has made him a symbol of selfless service to the downtrodden members of our society.
Rtn. Dr Rajendra is an alumnus of the premier institution VJTI from where he completed with distinction his Textile Engineering and has done his Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management. Rtn Rajendra has also done 3 year diploma course in Naturopathy. His vocational excellence has helped in the Family textile business R. Piyarelall Pvt. Ltd and Suditi Ind. Ltd. Suditi Industries received award for the 2nd biggest exporter of knitted fabrics at the hands of then Prime Minister of India , Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
His Rotary career is quite historic and is embellished with several legendary facts and accomplishments. He joined Rotary in 1992 as a Chartered Member of the Rotary Club of Bombay Queen City.
He led the club as President in 2005-06 and won several awards. The club was adjudged as the 2nd best Club in the district and also won the Best Club Award for the Community Service Avenue. Every year for the last eleven years a Mega Medical Camp is held at Phoenix Mills during the Rotary Service Week which is the Flagship project not only of his Club but also the District. This Mega Medical Camp has been created and organized right from the beginning by Dr.Rajendra Ji.
He has held numerous and very important positions in the District and has discharged his responsibilities professionally and with absolute dedication. He has been an Asst. Governor, Dist. Secretary, Coordinator of the Dist Service Week, Group Avenue Head of the Dist. Governors Six Esteemed projects which include Cancer Care, Pediatric Heart Surgeries, Diabetic Care, Railway Station Improvement projects, Swach Bharat and Holistic Projects. He is the architect of the Rotary district signing MOU with the Govt of Maharashtra MISSION MUSKAN with none other than the Chief Minister DEVENDRA PHADNAVIS for pediatric surgeries to the underprivileged. He completing 450 heart surgeries in 2016-17 and 1000 surgeries in 2018-19 and more than 2500 surgeries till today. He also coordinated and helped children in 2 heart transplants, many liver transplants, cancer surgeries, dialysis etc.
He is the recipient of 4 Avenues of Service Award and numerous citations.
His vocation in life is Social Work, and he has also been honoured for his contributions by organizations other than Rotary:
i) Mumbai President of Akhil Bhartiya Agarwal Sammelan for 6 years , which has 55,000 members and now national vice president. He has organized numerous Get-togethers, Tours, and Marriage Coordination Meetings for the community.
ii) Adarsh Ramleela Samiti, which organises Ramlila at Chowpatty for years.
iii) Trustee Vaish Mahavidyalaya in Bhiwani (Haryana ) which has 6 schools and colleges and 20000 chd.
iv) Trustee, Haryana Bhavan, Mumbai, which has helped thousands by way of scholarships to poor students and medical care to the needy, regardless of caste and religion.
During his tenure as Dist. Governor he aspires to take Rotary to a very high level of service to the underprivileged with the compassion that Rotary is famous for and partner the Government in the Execution of our major projects in the thrust areas we have designed.
His wife Archanaji is a business woman in her own right & they are blessed with three daughters, Shruti who is a fashion designer, Twinkle a successful Investment Advisor & Meha well known Entrepreneur in the Baking & Confectionary business.
