Chetan Desai is a distinguished Mechanical Engineer who transitioned into the IT sector as an Entrepreneur.

He currently serves as the Director of Vibrant Etechnologies Private Limited, a premier networking and software consultancy firm with a global presence, having offices in India, the USA, and the UK.

Rotary Club Involvement

A dedicated member of the Rotary Club of Borivali since 2003-04, Chetan Desai was honored with the Best New Rotarian award in his inaugural year.

During his presidency in 2008-09, he earned over 18 awards from Rotary International and the District, including the Excellent President Award, Best International Service Project, Most Unusual Project, and Best Cooperative Project for the “KANHERI FESTIVAL”.

Leadership and Achievements

As the Rotary Youth Exchange Avenue Chair for District 3140, Desai spearheaded remarkable growth:

• Achieved 100% growth in the Long Term Exchange Program.
• Achieved 100% growth in the Short Term Exchange Program (STEP) and New Generations Exchange Program (NGEP).
• Positioned District 3140 as the top district in India for sending the highest number of Long Term Exchange students.

In 2012, Desai was distinguished by Rotary International, being appointed to the five-member Findings Committee at the Youth Exchange Pre-convention meet in Bangkok.

• Assistant Governor: Awarded as Diamond AG in 2013-14 for inspiring Club Presidents to contribute to TRF. Under his guidance, RC Mumbai Lakers was recognized as the most Vibrant Club globally.
• Membership Avenue Chair: Introduced the RISE (Rotary Inducts for Service & Excellence) concept, adding 1541 new members in RY 2014-15 and forming 11 new clubs.
• District Secretary Communication: Instrumental in 110 out of 140 clubs receiving the RI Presidential Citation in RY 2015-16, the highest globally.
• Chief Group Avenue Head for Community Service: Led RID 3141 to a Guinness World Record for Rotary Humsafar, promoting awareness on eye, organ, and skin donation, and diabetes prevention.
• District Project Director for Annapoorna and Baghbaan: Provided 2.1 million meals and 17,512 ration kits during the COVID-19 pandemic. Partnered with Shankar Mahadevan Academy for successful entertainment initiatives for the elderly.
• TRF Avenue Chair: Raised $4 million, the highest ever for District 3141 till 2021-22.

Philanthropy and Personal Life

Desai is a Major Donor and Paul Harris Society member, recognized with a Gold Pin from RI for introducing over 10 members to Rotary. He made a significant donation to the Rotary Club of Borivli Charitable Trust, associating his mother’s name with the club’s flagship eye bank project.

He is also a founding member and director of an affiliate of the International Council for Small Business in India, alongside management guru Professor YK Bhusan.

Chetan Desai is happily married to Jwala, whom he regards as his pillar of strength. His elder son, Krish, has completed a BTech in Computer Engineering and is now pursuing a Masters in Finance from UIUC, USA. His younger son, Yash, has completed his 10th grade and is on a Rotary Youth Exchange to Brazil.
